Hi all, i got a kantankerous boiler that simply will not work. IE NO spark!

Fan runs,
pressure switch activates (i can hear it click)
but no spark.
followed fault finding and changed PCB at cost of 180£
but still no spark??????

I check resistence across soleniods and they both fall just within tolerance limites. 2.1 & 2.3 while min is 2.0KOhms.
with boiler on I checked voltage across pins on the gas solenoid but there was no 240v. Fault finding chart says replace PCB but i did that qalready!!!!

acording to manual the normal lighting sequence is so
1- the fan runs - check
2- the air pressure switch operates - check
3- the first pilot solenoid valve opens -
4- the sprak igniter operates
5- pilot lights
6- ignition spark switches off
7- second solenoid opens giving main burner operation

from what i read the gas solenoid must work in order for spark to commence but board is not sending 240 to solenoid...

this has left me confused so any help guys is really appreacited

cheers

APS clicking doesn't mean it is working. Have you checked for continuity across the air pressure switch when the fan is running?

Is there power going to the COM on the APS? Does the board definitely send an AC current to the gas valve? I've been caught out once or twice looking for an AC current when I should have been checking DC!

ETA: Just had a look at an online manual, there appears to be an overheat reset button underneath, not too sure what it interrupts, but maybe worth checking that for continuity.

thanks.....did that but i found the cuase.....this boiler is negative pressure and even though the fan was running it was too weak to activate the APS. By all observation it ran well but when i manual activated the APS the boier lit. Its that or they maybe a small holes in the casing, will check again on monday..
