whats the paste for ? and is it needed as theres no evidence of paste from manufacture

Been a while since last fitted one but don't recall any paste.
Just torque the nuts up equally until you are happy they are tight....but not too tight.
It's copper grease... Apply to the threads, helps them come off next time!
It helps with expantion noise, stops the cracking/ticking sounds as its heating up........ But don't over tighten the nuts A, it can make the noise worse and B, the studs have a habit of breaking, glowworm engineers torch them up to 6nm although you will never find that in any book lol
It's only a small packet of paste, I just guessed it must be for the threaded lugs, never knew it was for expansion noises, copper grease is used in mechanics a lot, it's high temperature stuff & stops stuff seizing I guess
