Builder at my house went through oil line has been repaired and oil purged back to boiler. Now it wont fire but it doesn't lock out either. Motor runs, fan runs. It goes to fire but then wont hold the flame. keeps trying to ignite every 15 seconds but never locks out. I have checked photocell and cleaned, still no joy. Im gas safe but not oftec registered. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking maybe the jet has got blocked with mud or something when the oil line was damaged. You can feel the oil pump and bottom of burner getting hot but no luck firing.

Sure you have a decent supply of fuel to pump? What was the pressure gauge doing during these cycles?

Was the pressure stable at point of flame failure? It could be the flame establishes for longer than safety time (5 seconds) and then fails, prompting it to try and refire. It does, exceeds safety time and fails again. If this is happening it may not go to lockout. Given the circumstances one really needs to rule out fuel delivery problem first.

Would agree eliminate possible fuel issues first. Grant (well riello in truth) did have a fair number of faulty photocells go out at one point . As you might expect gave exactly the symptoms your describe. Still finding odd ones ,
