the boiler has a wiring diagram which shows Mains via fused spur feeding L & N in the boiler and then Ns Ls Lr to the wiring centre - why does this boiler need to Lives (L and LS) and two neutrals (N and Ns)

the wiring centre has L N in from a spur, L connected to Ls N connected to Ns, Lr for switching valves.

the installation has a Megaflow CL125 for DHW, external programmer, room stat (DT90E).

i am not trying to wire it, i was just interested why it appears to have two supplies

Your electrician or gsr engineer will explain it to you when he installs it for you

thanks. my boss is the plumber / electrician, he asked me to look at the installation guide and figure out what is going on (homework), he also told me to use my initiative to find stuff out - hence the post here. I am guessing that the L and N are for something like the internal pump overrun, but I am not sure.
help!! I don't want to lose my job..

whats is your job? you cant be sacked for not understanding something your not trained to do.

The boiler instructions and diagrames should explain how it works, if you cant follow them then i would think the best solution would be to book yourself of the worcester training course and the honeywell training course. You first really need a good basic understanding on the way controls operate each other, then you will understand the wiring alot better.

how is using you initiative posting on here

Thats just lazy and ignorant

using you
initiative would be researching it, posting what you think it does and then discussing it

the instruction manual clearly sets out how to wire and what the wiring is for, try that as a good start

I apologise good luck I hate electrics

The boiler doesn't "need" 2 lives and neutrals.
The worcester MI's show it being fed from the supply (L & N) which then passes through (Ls & Ns) and is routed to the wiring box.
The switch live comes back from the wiring box to Lr.

I see more of these boilers wired incorrectly than any other, especially when it's been a 3 wire heat only boiler, ideal classic etc.....

Lol thats half decent, it has a perminant live, the ones I see do have a E & N as you would expect and SL into LR! So no pump overrun or blue led, more importantly when a perminant live is not present the gas valve solenoid safety integrety test is not carried out correctly!
