Hello All,

I would be grateful of any advice. We have a grohe shower mixer unit with bath filler/ additional shower head fitted to a combi boiler with integral HW tank. The installation is 6 months old. The root problem is that the temperature of the HW supply into the bath is too cool. Significantly less than the sink. Having read up on adjusting the temperature set point and doing so, it made no difference. With the cover removed the black temperature control rotated to the max position.
I then decided to remove the thermostatic unit to inspect. The two gauze filters had some dirt caught, but nothing significant. Having stripped and rebuilt the unit i replaced it to see if any changes had occurred. Once rebuilt i opened the main CW isolation Vv to the boiler and went to test... nothing, plenty of water at all the other outlets but nothing from the bath. I have now removed the device several times and checked.. still noting. With the thermostat removed and placing my hand over the end aperture water flows from the bath and shower head. With the supply Vv cracked open, and releasing the thermostat unit from its seat some water flows.

Yours Andy

Hello All,

Well after deciding not to be beaten by a simple mixer i took the flow control Vv out and proved that the problem was diffinately with the thermostat. Having removed it again and examined the various orifices closely i found that the end cap that holds the thermostatic control Vv in place was blocking the flow outlet. In replacing the cap i had screwed it in until it seated on the body. This effectively blocked the thin radial orifices. Having unscrewed the cap to clear the slots, replaced and tested it works fine, other than not providing the correct level of hot water from a temperature point of view.
Back to square one.
