Mike Jackson

Sitting in a queue of traffic when there was a thump and the sound of breaking glass and twisting metal. Got out and walked round to the back to be greeted with exactly the sight I expected. The front of the car that had hit me had a broken headlight and a big crease in the bonnet. The 110 didn't have a mark on it. The guy was third party insurance so I just took his details in case and we parted company. And people wonder why I drive a Land Rover.

I used to love my 110. It's the only one of the vehicles I've owned over the years that I honestly miss.

The trouble with these types of vehicles is if you hit something you demolish it.

Glad no damage done though.

No whiplash then mike?! Are you sure?! Paid for a lovely holiday in Greece a couple of years back!:wink5:

Been there done that , few years back sat waiting for lights to change crash bang wallop , get out walk round brand new vw battle , blonde blue eyes long lets big xxxx , I looked said I never moved what were you thinking - some lame excuse and she still had lippy in her hand. My car little scratch on ball joint her brand new car bout by boyfriend 2/3 week earlier creased bonnet , smashed headlight. 2 bent wings and a crumbled bumber lol, happy days

Am with you mike if I cloud drive landie 24/7 instead of van I would

My missus is a physio, there are big changes coming in regards to whiplash claims soon!

Dont agree with all these whiplash claims, its the same as someone trying to claim on our insurance for something that never happened or wasnt our fault when working in their house.

I had a woman drive into the back on me when I was stopped at lights. The van didnt have a mark on it, her funny little daewoo car was a bit dented. All caused because she was wearing stupid sandal/flip flops with a wedge/heel and her foot slipped off the break and got stuck under the pedal. Put a nice gash in her foot.

From what I remember her telling me( her words of you never listen to me know ring true) at present most people go through dodgy claims firms who send you to see a doctor on there books, that's going to change with independent physios now seeing whiplash patients.

I had some one do this, insurance company tried to up my premium because I was involved in an accident. Insurance companies are all tossers.

I was on my KTM (motorbike for those who don't know) and was crashed into from behind by an old boy. I was at a busy roundabout. I thought I'd wait for a reasonable gap, and BANG. The girl I had on the back went flying over my head. We both flew through the air, and wump. Landed painfully. Luckilly we didn't get run over.

Never occured to me to claim for an injury as I only had cuts and bruises that healed. This was about 10 years ago. These days, you'd almost be forced to make a claim.

Personally think it's a bit out of order to make a claim if you aren't genuinely hurt....but have had mates who have done it since and figured maybe I missed a trick!!

This is the trouble with roundabouts, you fly up to them looking right and not at the car/bike in front!

It was a youngish bloke that hit me. He was very apologetic and concerned that he had damaged the 110.

Neither of us suffered any injury. Perhaps I'm too honest but I don't believe in making false claims. Knowing my luck I'd probably get caught out anyway.

Yep.

Put me off motorbikes. The bike was a write off. When I got a replacment, I was pretty nervous for a long time. In the end I decided to jack it in altogether. I was always more comfortable on four wheels anyway. Safely in my steel box!

I was always a fair weather rider, and never a speed demon, (haven't got the balls for that malarky). I've got a group of mates who all ride, and every single one of them has had an accident (or two) one of them nearly died when a car pulled out on him. So bikes and me are distant friends until I can afford a big old Harley to poodle around on in the summer!

Good for you for not being a dick about it.

Accidents happen. we're human. It's not worth jumping up and down about (especially if no one is hurt).

I am torn on whip lash claims etc.

Morally wrong unless your injured but I have no sympathy for insurance company,

I had a 8 week old ZZR 1100 with 639 miles on it, Peugeot 205 GTI speeds towards me on the wrong side of the road then turns right in front of me, we were on a national speed limit road!

Front forks of my bike were touching the engine, ambulance was called etc. They turned up and said wheres the rider, they were shocked that I was standing and only had a cut on my elbow,

Driver done for driving without due care etc, insurance company paid THREE years later, as we were going into court they made the offer! Oh and there was no personal injury claim.

Insurance companies do themselves no favours!
