Yet more problems with this boiler!

Last December it developed an intermittent ignition fault. When in fault condition it went through the three attempts to ignite but no spark could be heard. It then went to ignition lockout (flashing red led). As it was the cheaper option I tried an electrode set first but not surprisingly this did not effect a cure. So - I resigned myself to obtaining a pcb. With finances beeing tight (when are they not?) I obtained an exchange board. This worked fine until last week when the fault presented exactly as before! The company who supplied the board were very helpful and sent me another board which has it seems cured the fault.

However, I have noted that new pcb's for this boiler are often supplied with an electrode kit and the instructions on the packaging suggest the gaps should be 2.5mm for the spark electrode and 12mm for the detection electrode. I set the new electrodes to the gap in the installation manual of 4mm and 8mm, is this wrong? There were no instructions with the new electrode kit. I am now wondering if an incorrect spark gap setting could cause premature failure of the pcb. Anyone have any experiance/thoughts on this?

Many thanks in advance.

Steve

OK, I appreciate your position on this.

The board refurbishers have helped me out.

Bit sad though, I've had so much help on this forum in the past.

Hope you've done all the safety checks & recommissioned the boiler.
