HEAT EXCHANGER IS STEEL MUCH BETTER boiler advice needed

in need of a new boiler, i know baxis are popular with some plumbers especially in the NE of england

im after a boiler whats best for me Not whats best for the plumber to fit, without paying top price for a worcester.

but i been told a gloworm ultimate is made by valliant now and glow worm alot better than what they used to be.

the boiler has a 10 yr warranty but noticed it has a aluminum heat exchanger should i be concerned.

also does a full powerflush have to be carried out as most manufactures like it but told a full power flush can cause more problems

also is it best to replace radiators current ones about 20yrs old

believe a stainless steel exchanger is better

Glowworm are a lot better then they used to be and yes Vaillant do own them. But I would still fit a Vaillant over a Glowworm any day. Also if you want quality look at an ATAG

What problems are you concerned about with a powerflush?? Also I like Glow-worm energy.

never hears of a ATAG , may have to look into one of them are they mega expensive, thats a new one.

plumber i had in mind wanted to fit a baxi platinum he says they the bmws of boilers, but i believe its just a duotec with timer and extra warranty

saw a gloworm rep today by accident at plumbers merchant and he said having a glowwom is like having a skoda citigo and a vw up take them to bits and they the same get made in the same factory and use same components, as they make its specially for the plumbers merchant the ultimate 3

powerflush saying may cause leaks, getting told that many different things.

ATAG sounds interesting, but cant find many stockists

Do you have a combi already? If so a powerflush isn’t going to do much pressure wise. There is the very unlikely possibility that it could shift some sludge in a radiator causing a pin hole but I’ve never come across one yet. My thoughts are why run the risk of losing your manufacturers guarantee or damaging your new boiler

i have a alpha cd32 atm one plumber mentioned a kind of mini flush but i find while they all gas safe its conflicting advice

i thought a full powerflush was compulsory prior to fitting a boiler

It’s not compulsory but no manufacturer is going to uphold warranty on a boiler not installed to their requirements. You’d be daft not to

What bothers me is ive asked a few for a quote to replace they give me written quote, to swap over from combi etc,

i then ask does that include flush they say no, i then thing if they good at there job they should include cost of a powerflush or tell me its a vital part of job, if i hadnt had access of internet i wouldnt of know it was important, or what it meant

Steer away get more quotes. Ask about
Boiler, warranty, filter, in-line scale reducer, powerflush, controls TRVs, thermostat etc its the responsibility of your installer to know building regs as well as being able to hang a boiler.

googled ATAG seems like a quality product but i imagine i struggle to get a engineer if things go wrong, what about Viessmann??

Go onto the ATAG website. Click on the menu. Click on find an installer and Roberts your fathers brother. Just so you know ATAG do not sell to engineers or trade centres that are not registered with them. Anything you find on sale on the net are old ATAG boilers you want one of the new ones with a 10 year warranty.

Building regs are things like TRVs, timed and programmable Heating, zoning if required, smart/weather compensation style controls to become the norm
