Hello everyone.
New to this forum.
I completed a 12 week "plumbing for the amateur" evening course at the local college last year (1 evening a week). The course was very good and I have now ripped out our old mouldy horrible en-suite and have just started putting the new bits in - with many problems so far and lots of learning as I go along. Its hard work but great fun.

I do have 1 problem though. Today I put the basin and vanity unit in. I have a leak on the metal basin waste but I half expected that and will be out to get a "Basin Mate" washer set tomorrow that I think will fix it.

But my main problem is the watse. I replaced the old U bend with a bottle trap. But it is not draining away! I noticed the old pipe was pretty full of gunge but it used to emptyt fine so my guess is that there is not enough drop on the pipes. After the bottle trap it does drop straight down to the floor but then the waste pipe is flat all the way to soil pipe with no slant at all
Is that more likely to be the problem, or could it be the gunged up old pipes?

Thanks for your help (I will try and post some pics as I go along)

Simon.

P.S. I am also booked on a tiling course at Diamond tiling in a few weeks!
