Whodafunk

Hi everyone! I'm after a little advice fitting an outside tap if possible.

I am a novice when it comes to plumbing work... my only experience is fitting a mixer tap and plumbing a dishwasher on one occasion so any help is much appreciated.

Ok, so having had a look under my sink for a place to connect the feed for the tap, I found a brass valve/tap (without a head) just above the stopcock. I've tried to attach a couple of pictures to make things easier but it appears I can't do this as a new member yet.

My question is, what is this valve? and can it be used/removed to provide a feed for my outside tap?

If I can somehow post a picture it might be make things easier. Cheers

Without seeing photo it sounds like the drain point if its above the stopcock, B4 you start ! have you got the tools to do this job ? Drill bit to go through wall , pipe and fittings, Have you had a price to do job, Don't buy one of those garden tap kits from DIY outlets

I've got a good power drill and a long drill bit. Got a bunch of spanners, tools and a pipe cutter etc. Not bought any pipe or tap kit as yet as I was simply looking under the sink to see what I was faced with. Not had a price as yet, what sort of money are we talking?

Just has a quick search on the net and it can be fitted professionally for anything between £60 - £100. Think I'll go down this route to know it's done properly

Good man ensure that your fitter fits a non return valve, and an isolation Valve in line with water regs
