I have a 27mm OD semi-flexible black pipe (PE?) feeding mains water to an annexe. I am struggling to source compression fittings to adapt this to metric pipe so that I can use standard modern components downstream. I belive the installation is about 50 years old. Is this what used to be 3/4" pipe?

Yes, 27mm OD is likely the old 3/4" imperial pipe. To connect it to modern metric pipes, use a 3/4" imperial to 25mm metric compression adapter. Ensure the fitting is WRAS approved for UK use. Verify the pipe material (PE) before fitting to ensure compatibility.

Thank you for the prompt post! I would be grateful for suggestions on where to source those fittings.
Also there is only a few inches of pipe protruding above ground and any identification has long worn off. From reading around, it seems possible that it is a form of polyethylene (MDPE?) that was commonly used for undergound pipework in domestic installations in the 1970-80s. Any suggestions on how to identify it better?
