Morning,

I have a Vaillant combi boiler coupled to a Horstmann programmable room thermostat - DRT2 I think.....it is square, has an LCD display, 2 rubber buttons under the display for up and down and to,the right of the display 5 rubber buttons with D, M, H etc

it hasn't had batteries in it for a few months (over the summer) and I went to put batteries in it this morning and the display just keeps flashing. I have pressed the recessed reset button with a paper clip and tried 3 sets of new batteries but still it just flashes. It doesn't allow me to change time etc.

any ideas as to what the issue is?

Many thanks,

Cliff

Have a look for manual on line unless you kept it.
I can't think why it would not reset with new batteries but it may tell you in the manual

Thanks for reply.

Tried all that, it simply said press reset button which I have done. No change.

There is no trouble shooting in the manual that says about the lcd display flashing.

Any other thoughts?

Was hoping it may not come to that....only been in use for a couple of years.

What thermostat would you recommend? It needs to be programmable and ideally with 2 time slot options (morning and evening) for 7 days a week.

Hope you don't mind me picking your brains further ;-)

Cheers.

It had NO batteries in over the Summer?

It may be the internal battery that keeps the memory while you change batteries, it may or may not be removable/ replaceable.

Leave it alone for a few hours and see if it sorts itself out.

That link took me to a different version. I found that when I googled things earlier too. My description of mine is above re layout of buttons.

There is power there but when I pop batteries in the screen just flashes I can't program it with times etc.

Cheers for your reply though
