I just had a phone call off sum guy, saying he has hot water but no heating, i still have my ACS qualifications to gain (sitting within next couple of weeks), i understand the basic ignition sequence of a combi boiler he says he has, but i didnt get the make of him, so just a qucik question to all the combi engineers and anyone that knows these beastly machines, when having a phone call off a customer stating^^ them faults whats the first thing that comes to your minds e.g. thermistors?, diverter valve?, ignition leads?, and from your experience what is normally the cause, could sumone please give me an answer, thanks for your time, sorry about the lack of not knowing what boiler it is, all i also know is he said he got it from B&Q, hope this helps, any answers?, thanks Hardy.

With any boiler

You first test
Do you have heating. Do you have hot water

If the answer is yes for either you have ruled out anything to do with ignition or combustion

So you then go over the controls for either system. Weather that be dv thermistor or pump

I'm not going to tell you the answer but there's a good start for you when you watch a pro

how long is a piece of string ? . Customers can be complete idiots sometimes and the answer to your question could run into thousands of answers, lets see ,no gas , no electricity , not switch on , unplugged , no fuse , fuse blown ,ring main faulty, reverse polarity, My answer would be get the installer out failing that get the manufacturers out , I would smell a rat and avoid myself as sounds aggro and tight git ,good luck
