Is it ok to fit an "indirect" water cylinder in place of a "direct" cylinder ? The reason i ask is we have had "direct" one stolen from a property but have a spare "inderect" one spare.
 
Yep. The indirect has a coil that connects with a boiler. Just leave those tappings capped. And use the immersion boss as usual direct cylinder

coil connection should be ok open as in normal operation they shouldnt allow any leakage across them or out of any joints, and it gives the mice an opportunity to find a warm home to live in!
 
Good practice to cap em but its your call. As said in normal operation there is no possibility of leakage however a split coil or a pinhole at some future point could well leave you wishing they had been capped.
