Hi all,
The cold water pressure is fine but there is very little pressure in the hot. Recently the pressure in one of the showers would last about 1.22mins before decreasing. We cannot fill a bath as it is so slow that it is cold by the time you reach a reasonable level.
My boiler is fine, and has recently been serviced. I did ask the engineer if he could suggest what is wrong with the hot water supply but he suggested that I get a plumber. Now I am here...... any suggestions please?

Kind regards,

Well, this isnt quite getting a plumber in is it, as he said get one in to have a look.

could be many things, but its all guess work unless someone takes a look in person 🙂

What type of system do you have ? Is it an un-vented (Megaflo type) cylinder ?
Can we take it that it worked OK once & has now decreased, if so did it happen all of a sudden ?
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I think it is unvented: I have cylinder in airing cupboard but no other water tanks. It used to be fine but has gradually decreased. Sadly lost my husband 4 weeks ago so have let the problem slip but now must get it sorted.
thank you for the welcome

could be a blocked filter on the inlet to the cylinder. your best bet would be to get a G3 qualified plumber in to look at the cylinder, it could be really simple to fix or more complicated. if you put a request here [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL] putting your general location there may be someone from here who can come out and have a look for you.

Very sorry to hear about your husband Pat, if the cylinder is un-vented & if the pressure has dropped off slowly it is more likely to be the pressure reducing valve but as steveb has suggested you need to get a Part G / un-vented hot water engineer in to take a look.
Please get a couple of quotes for work required & if at all not sure then come back to us on here.
