Hi
I have an Alpha 240p combi boiler, My hot water from upstairs/downstairs taps (both mixer taps) is only lukewarm. I have had an engineer from E On come out and he has done various tests and has found nothing wrong with the boiler, has anyone any suggestions
cheers

Hi Tom
There is mixer tap in the kitchen a mixer tap in the bathroom and a thermostatic shower. If I run the cold tap upstairs then the hot water is fine downstairs and the shower is also hot. Any ideas
cheers

Hi jj,Welcome, hope you enjoy the forums

Think your thermostatic shower maybe has a faulty non return valve ,allowing cold into hot side of pipework

imho

Hi Puddle
If the non return valve on the shower was faulty would that affect the downstairs hot water taps?
I have had a plumber come out and he has confirmed that the plumbing side of things are ok and suggested an electronic fault in the boiler.
cheers

some times the tempeture senors may need changing these are cheap to replace usually about 15 each to buy. Failing that your heat exchanger may be full of limescale , this may need to be cleaned descaled, this is usually expensive hence netter off replacing boiler.

guys, he gets hot water when the cold is flowing elsewhere so the boiler is working ok, doesnt need thermistor etc, could need a flow reducer on cold inlet or prv or therostatic mixer is faulty as previously mentioned.

Hi
If the thermostat on the shower is faulty would that affect the hot water tap downstairs or would that just affect the temperture in the shower.
cheers
Jim
