How do I change diaphragm washer

View the thread, titled "How do I change diaphragm washer" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

I think I need to change the diaphragm washer on my toilet cistern. Water keeps pouring into the toilet even after flushing has stopped. It's an Ideal standard, about 6 years old. Someone did show me the last time I needed to do this, but I've forgotten. Then the old washer had developed a hole, so I'm imagining it's the same problem. I'm struggling to access inside the ballcock, as everything seems firmly fixed in place. I've taken photos. Does anyone know how I can upload them here. Or does someone know how I can access the old diaphragm washer, which is Armitage shanks no. SV90167. Thanks.

If I were you I would change the the ball valve or it may be a Torbeck valve changing a washer is a waste of time as it may be the seating.

Nonsense. Why cost yourself money. Like lame says 9 out of 10 washer change fixes the problem. The biggest problem nowadays is that there are so many different types of diaphragms it's a nightmare knowing which one. If it's a standard one with ball float then it's an easy fix. Go to YouTube and you'll get a video showing you.

If you put up a photo we can advise you better... there should be a nut or the upper dome section you turn anti-clockwise.

I changed a shanks one 2 weeks ago nice easy job
