How do I drill a hole through a ceramic cistern?

Unusual question this. I've got a customer with a nasty cheap foreign import close coupled WC set which has only the option for a left hand inlet and has no hole or blank for a right hand inlet. Because of the way his bathroom is installed, there is absolutely no way to install the supply to the left hand inlet. Has anyone drilled a 3/4 hole in a ceramic cistern before without it breaking or chipping? I've told him to get a new one supplied by me but he won't listen. I'll charge him for the extra drilling work!

Will a flexi not reach? Can't imaging a situation where water can get to one side of a cistern but not another.
Can't get near it as the pipe is coming from a boxed in tiled partition on the traditional right hand outlet side. I could run a pipe from it under the WC above the 4" waste, but it will look minging. It is a cheap nasty piece of crap, but aesthetics are still paramount to me and I'd prefer him to return it and get a new one. Somewhere down the line, installing crap always comes back to haunt you even though you didn't buy it in the first place. If it can be drilled, I'll try it at his own risk.

I found this and it looks the biz but will add another 50 quid onto the price. He'd be cheaper getting a new one, but these drills will come in handy a lot in the future.
