Hi I have a Remeha 39c Combi boiler. It sufferers from a high pitched whistling sound every time I use the hot water. This is annoying but everything works OK ...plenty hot water and the heating works fine.

I'm think it's from the flow switch so I want to swap it for a spare and de-scale the old one.

The last time I tried this I closed the boiler cold supply valve on the boiler and turned on the kitchen sink tap which is only about 30cm lower than boiler. Very little water siphoned out and when I started to remove the flow switch there was a considerable flow which I had to let drain out of the boiler base....what a mess!

The DHW flow pipework goes upwards from the boiler to the upstairs bathroom and shower before going down to the ground floor taps so draining off is difficult...at least for me!

The lowest DHW access point is an unused ground floor washing m/c hot supply .....should I try draining via this point to increase the available head of water?

No he shouldn't.
