How do you remove this vicious, heartless loo seat?

No catch I can see, removed the little white rectangular plastic covers and found nothing underneath, no allen key fix etc. It's needs tightening, I suppose might not even be top fix? Which would be stupid given the pan/install but doesn't even seem to fit pan well from side angle so not sure what went on when it was installed.

Well, not remove. Tighten.

Press the Chrome dome covers towards the outside to release from the pins underneath and lift?

Nearest one I can find shows plastic nut underneath and a screw under the hinge kit.

it might just push on / pull off with some force and as rpm says under the chrome covers are the screws but rubbish design

Looks like vitra.
Get a thin screwdriver between the seat and the edge of the stainless shroud. Prize it away from the seat, ( sideways) They slide off quite easilly. The seat will then lift off and then lift off the chrome covers and tighten.
Hope this makes sense.
