I just need to get the radiator off the wall temporarily so i can get the shower panel onto the wall. then i can put the radiator back. i take it there is no way to do that then without draining system and refilling.

if you can work with the valves still there then turn them off which for the TRV you will need a decorators cap or a 5p usually works

Then as steve says the brackets holding the rad to the actual wall have a cover on the front that 'pops' off and reveals a screw

Yes , the valves can stay , i have enough room to put panels in place with the valves still there...its just the rad that needs to come out temporarily....so , in theory , i just shut off the valve in pic2 (which is the valve on the left of the rad shown in pic 1)....turn the thermostatic valve to * , and i should be able to remove radiator ? also if you have a look at the thermostic valve and the the other valve....i have tried to undo the top of the thermostatic valve , but it doesnt want to budge....should it be that that i try to turn , or should it be the bit coming down from the radiator that i need to unscrew. (pic3) thanks.

you don't need to turn off your water mains. the part of the valve that you need to undo on both valves is the nut at the top of the valves these are connected to the screw parts that go into the bottom of the radiator.

make sure you open bleed valve to get pressure out before undoing the top nuts of the valves ! TURN VALVES OF THEN OPEN BLEED VALVE AT THE TOP ,if water does NOT STOP COMING OUT ,DO NOT UNDO NUTS !will end up with flood 🙂

as sgi says check valves are closed by opening bleed valve there should be no flow with valves closed if there is flow in will most probably be the trv letting by inwhich case you will need a decorators cap to put on instead of the trv head

turn off both sides of the radiator valves, open one side fully and the other side slightly just enough for you to have a little bit off play open the bleed vent on the top, get a small bucket or jug ready and also sum old sheets or better dust sheets just incase water spills all over the place, and let the water go into that, then once it is empty redo the bleeding valve, take the nuts off the rad, flip it upside down, take it outside or somewhere safe and assemble in reverse order, and fill the system again, and bleed radiator. hope it helps.
