You do a small job in someones home say new tap, check it all for drips or weeps after , wait a few mins check again leave . Two weeks later get a text or call its leaking .

Had two last month bleeding annoying

I get it all the time, had it the other day, fitted a toilet, flushed several times, checked all connections and all was dry. I hadn't even got to my second job before I got a text saying it was leaking 😳

It happens. You just dont think about it until it happens. Then if a couple happen at the same time you start doubting yourself.

A plumber who doesnt have leaks isn't a plumber. Dont worry about it and move on.

I just always replace washers and now I paste every joint (never used to but had a few leaks over the past couple of years on compression)

Stuff like this does happen. But I disagree that a plumber that doesn’t get leaks isn’t a plumber. A mate of mine on here used to have the words NEVER TRUST A PLUMBER THAT WEARS WELLIES under his profile. (This springs to mind when I read the above. I always take it back to bare 15mm and change everything in between. Rarely have issues mate.

I had a customer ring me with a leak after TWO MONTHS. Washing machine hose washer obviously wasn't tight enough, but it held for two months.

I rarely have any issues when fitting taps mate but when I do, It is because I haven’t cut the 15mm back far enough,which I spot when on site.

I agree with the idea to cut back pipes if they look poor, or just because it is only a couple pipes to a kitchen tap for example. That way you get rid of other people’s work so no risk of joints being wrong. Do it all in copper and paste compression joints and should be sound.
Amazing what you discover if you bother to take apart the joints on the pipes you remove.
No supports in plastic pipe ends or the plastic pipes cut with hacksaws leaving rough edges into push fit connections.
Or compression joints not fully onto the pipes.
Typically I cut out the pipes to a kitchen sink and fit 2 full flow valve and pipe from them in new.

However with higher prices you get less work to pay the bills with so you put stress on something else

Exactly you can only put your prices up so far before you drive your regular customers away. In certain areas customers dont have the money to pay top dollar.

Some people charge more than there customers earn in a day for an hours work.

*move to an area where you can charge what you want and stay busy

*houses too expensive? get a smaller one

*too many kids and wives and dogs to fit a smaller house? well should have thought of that shouldn't you? 🙂
