Basically we live in a 3 bedroom house with a conventional boiler system, we have a cold water storage in the attic loft and a cylinder in the bathroom.

We want good pressure for the bath tub so we can fit a shower head and hose to the taps. The cold water pressure and flow is very good for all taps but the hot water is only a little bit better in the kitchen but very low in the bathroom.

We have been told over the phone by a plumber that it should cost between £130-190 for the pump and fitting, does this sound about right?

Sounds very cheap
to be honest you won't get a good pump for that money
Go for a Stuart turner pump

sounds like a cheap pump and a quick lash up on the pipework take about 2 hours to fit and then you will have years of problems with possible airlocks get 3 quotes use a stuart turner pump as mentioned above Ideally the pump needs a new cold feed from the roof tank if there is only one cold feed to the cylinder then the hot cylinder will need either an Essex or Surrey flange to prevent air getting into the pipework.
Cheap is not always best.
But the way you have asked your question I suspect that you thought that £130 - £190 was a bit on the expensive side, lmao parts and labour for a bodge yes it is very expensive.
