How Robust is Solvent Weld Plastic Pipe

Hi,

I ask this question following a little DIY job to clear out my bathroom sink traps. Having got a slow draining sink I unscrewed the two connections (one to sink and one down to waste) and remove the trap and cleaned everything out as best I could.

Everything seems to have gone back together nicely and the sink drains as it should.

However, it made me wonder how robust / hardy the solvent weld plastic pipes are. Most of mine are actually hidden behind the internals of the vanity units. I was extremely careful not to move them much whilst removing the trap as not to cause any issues but there seems to be some flexibility with them. However, I know with the 21m overflow pipe, even a slight movement can break elbows etc.

I deduce from your and the other post that unless you are negligent, any damage is unlikely 🙂

If it’s not exposed to uv light it will give you trouble free service for pretty much ever!
