hey all, ive been in IT now since i left school. getting fed up with it 😛

given modern boilers all seem to be pretty unreliable with pcb's being blamed alot, etc. i was thinking id like to get into something like this..especially being hands on, i like that sort of work.

what are the requirements?

have to be gas safe registered etc?

good tips for who to use for training, does it require work based training for this kinda thing etc?

thanks 🙂 what are the costs and timescales ?

just to clarify, not installing the boilers, but to fix them, i guess that has the same sort of requirements though?

theres no shortcut mate.

lots of options available but you wont learn what you need to in 3 months regardless of what your told.

if your prepared to pay, work hard and be patient then you can make it. but to get to a level required to fault fix on boilers and have all the relevant quals and registrations it will take time

id re assess your goals, become a plumbers mate first, if you can get a start

from your ideal ethos,.......

why dont you just got to somewhere like british g get a job in sales and tell the customer with the broken down boiler 'its knacked my dear' (no qualification required there either!) then quote £7k for a new one (less your commission of course).

this way you can skip all the relevant training requirements that take around 4+ years down to around 4 days, then you can take off a weeks holiday and be ready to work with your new job diagnosing boilers for bg straight away without any drop in pay!!.

sounds too good to be true?. proberbly but it happens imo.
