Hi, please can you help me?

I have an MFI toilet (make unknown) with the cistern enclosed inside a vanity unit. The cistern stopped refilling and I need to get into it to take a look.

But how on earth do you open these things??!!

The flush button is at the front. I took it off some time ago and can't recall seeing any sort of screw or nut there. The lid on top is just a laminated lump of board.

Thanks very much for the swift response - this place is fantastic!

I don't have a photo on me and I'm at work. But the unit looks very similar to this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B003YCFUUQ/ref=dp_image_0?

(White front panels, black laminated lid. Like the unit in this image, mine has two silver plastic flush buttons, - but mine has no dual flush functionality. The button just pushes in a single rod.

Does this help at all?

I've now added a photo, thanks. (Please see original post.)

Help is very much appreciated.

looks to me like the front panel can come off, unscrew the push button and then try and pull off the front panel it may well be siliconed at the side though(can't tell in the picture)

unscrew the push button first and see if you can take the panel off

looks like it is held on by friction clips. if you can get your hand down the side, grab the side of the front panel and lever it forward. you should then be able to get the front off.

on this type of vanity unit the panel were the push button is comes off do not use silicone as suggested there sould be brackets there that just get pushed into that secure the panel.

The push button probably has a plastic type tube that is flexible so you can take it off then unscrew it.

on the building sites you get this tool type thing that sucks onto the ips panels to remove them I cant remember what it is called but i do own one if you know what I am on about get one of these it will come in handy at a later date if you are ever working in office blocks etc.

suckers ?

just realised what i wrote, dont silicone it lol 😛 but if it is siliconed you will have to cut it(seen them siliconed before)

Thanks for the expert answers everybody. I'm seriously impressed with this community. So much knowledge, such a fast response.

In the end it turns out that the front panel was firmly screwed into place. The top panel was glued on and I managed to get this off without significant damage.

This process appears to have dislodged whatever was causing the problem. It's filling, but slowly. I can live with that I guess. There's a large white plastic nut like a heavy duty bottle lid. I suspect that this may be a way of adjusting the flow-rate, but it's too stiff to move.

Thanks again everybody. My expertise is search engine optimisation, so if any of you need any help in that direction, let me know. I'll give you a basic 15 minute website audit for nothing if you posted one of the answers above. Just PM me.
