And filled it to the top and let it out to do a full flood test on the waste. No leaks, dry as a bone, all fine. Then I realised I hadn't solvent welded one fitting onto it's pipe. Yet no leaks. Mind you I've also seen some compression joints on mains pressure that weren't even hand-tight and didn't leak.

Like, what gives?

On a secondary point. I'm a member of a gym but since I've gone full time I literally have no energy left in the evening. Will this pass? I remember seeing quite a few plumbing vans outside the gym. Even back then I thought, 'How do they have the energy?' Could you manage it? (irrespective of whether or not you wanted to...)

well done on the bath - although it didnt leak this time it would of done a few goes after then god help ya lol.

the gym thing - i used to be a really keen gym goer - really into my weights, diet etc etc - that all changed 2 years ago - but!!!!! i have just joined a local gym - saturday for the induction before i can be let loose and then i go again, so give me 4 weeks - i'll give you an update.

Just cancelled my gym membership. Cant not remotely be rsd when i get in from work.

My builder and his two builder colleagues work a good solid day (7:30am to 5:00pm) then go off to rugby practice and training three nights a week.

Exhausts me just to think about it.

Did you fill it with cold to test it? Hot might have been a different story on the fitting when it expanded.

More in answer to the secondary point:
I have never much felt the need to go to a gym but like any form of physical work, be it work outs or actual manual work, you get used to what you do. Different things different excercise so maybe the plumbers at the gym felt they needed some other kind they were lacking in or maybe they p.....d about changing tap washers all day.

Had a few mates who were into gyms and fitness stuff who i have had out with me doing a bit labouring on the side and they just can't cut it. For all their fitness stuff they are still just factory and office workers. Not conditioned to actually working for a living "Manual labour is too intense" ffs. It is not that they are not fit enough but they are just not used to doing a the type of manual stuff that was asked of them. Different type of excersise.
Ask me to dig a hole and i'm off. I can't dig. I'm s..te at it. Yet i know guys who could dig for 12 straight hours without a problem.

Install yesterday, had to core a hole 41" through craigleith stone (Edinburgh new town, 27" wall and 14" butt from cupboard) at high level. Took me the best part of 4 hrs and a full new marcarist core to get through it. My shoulders and pecs are still killing me! (getting lots of sympathy from the good lady tho as apparently i'm too old for that s..t 😛)

Anyway enough of fitness and gym.

Congrats on fitting a bath. Wasn't hard was it? pop btw!

It was just luck with the waste (there is no real pressure on it) and it would have leaked at some point to your, or your insurers detriment.

Btw
Did a job a while back, fit new inset fire. Std procedure drop test before start. All well. Under floor to alter pipe and a union came loose when i bumped the pipe😱. It had been fitted for 20 years and was holding on the flux!
