Went to a boiler breakdown last week on an Icos, boiler making really noud vibrating noise. Condense trap was blocked so took it off and about 3 litres of water came pouring out. Cleaned out the trap, put it back together. All working fine, gave it a safety check and let it run and switched it on and off a few times. All ok. Arranged to go back this week to give it a proper service as I didnt have a gasket kit or the famous earth pins on the van. Got a call today saying the boiler isnt working again and LF is flashing on the display. It will run for a few minutes and then lock out, when reset it will start up and then after a few mins lock out again. Any suggestions on common problems other than electrodes and pcb?

Cheers.

No one had any experience with this LF fault then? I am going tomorrow and want to be armed with as much info as possible and would like to hear other peoples experiences.

mfgs .. LF alwas occurs for me after washing down the heatexchanger!!! Could be condensation on the flame detection probe or its gooshed!!! Either that or its lead?

Thanks. perhaps the fact it was previously full of condensate could have done a bit of damage to the electrodes. Just seems a bit odd as it only does it after it has been running for a few minutes apparently.

If the insulation around the probe is damp it could cause issues I guess? May pay to take a probe with you. Once you get the burner out you'll see what condition it's in... 🙂
