Hello Graham HTG

Po guage high but not over 3 bar? Fluctuation in Po guage. banging with more of a clicking sound than an explosive sound? Sounds like to me that the TPRV is operating. It makes aloud clicking noise that is amplified by the boiler. Sounds terrible. I had the same situation with a turbo max plus. I removed the secondary heat exchanger, soaked it in de-scaler for a hour, flushed through with water and re-placed. As good as new. As long as heat exchanger is not fractured then there is never a need to replace.

sorry just followed your post above to the end this time! scale could be enougth to restrict the channels inside the plate heat exchanger. Very fine water ways that give us engineers in bristol a proper head ache i tell thee. Protect the system on completion.

i suspected heat exchanger on my earlier post, but you always hve to check other things too. still think h/e at fault, but!!! i could still be wrong!

chris.

one other thing may be of note, it does not have a built in auto by pass as most boilers, so has it got one fitted near the boiler
i recall once that some one had sim problem and by backing the by-pass off,
the water to rads flowed faster and hotter without any problem,,
as though the bpass was holding it back, yes i know that you will then get a certain a mount of hot crossing( not much) but it worked fine!!!!

BOILERS you just got to love them !!!! (lol) regards chris ps, still going with blocked h/e plate lol

It took a lot to convince me and I still don’t believe it.
I called Ideal to it and they said it’s a blocked heat exchanger.
I don’t think this is block with particles from heating system.
I power flushed the system and use a magnetic filter with a sieve to collect any particles over 1mm and found nothing.
What ells could have blocked it ?
I know one think I’m going to avoid aluminium Heat Ex’s

Thank you all. Kind Regards
Graham

alright graham i took my heat exchanger out to do and took it all to pieces and found nothing wrong with it (took side panel off and looked inside) checked pump and diverter valve all ok so replaced heat exchanger and tested all working now no banging. just thought i would let you know, keep me up to date with your cheers andy
