Couple of quick questions. How do you set this boiler to go into CO mode ? Also can you take a burner pressure on the boiler or is it just easier to do a gas rate at the meter

Bhoydavis that boiler has a zero governor you cant take the burner pressure

most condencing boilers these days have zero governors,
and even those that dont, burner pressure havent been listed on the dataplate on most boilers for a good few years

Gas rate or heat input, which ever you prefer.
along with the analyser as it will be a premix burner.

Cheers again all. Serviced a whole load of them that's recently been installed and the company tell you not to take the boiler to bits but still want a minimum of 30 mins at a job. Was looking to see if there was anything else I could do but looks like an extra 5/10 mins in the van wins lol

Its worth going on the training course, they recommend you do a full strip down service though.

Your not doing a service then are you? U need an 8 mm ring spanner and a mug ( to pour water through) flat head ph2 and shifter. If you don't wash out hex the boiler will be goosed in 2 years as primary bakes and splits , or trap blocks. Do it to the mi or just get your self a sticker for van "fga cowboy" I can strip rebuild logic and inlet pressure in 10 mins max . Isar almost same .

You get inlet pressure on gas tap. Each input range has a different standing loss across tap so check mi. Also you can get current values by turning DHW and ch to min and holding reset for 10. You get list of most recent faults first.

Be interesting that the company you work for have actually told you not to follow mi? U got it in paper?

Takes me ages to service an Isar, due to the hex usually requiring a good going over with a hacksaw blade and taking a chisel to condensate sump.

No reason not to strip a logic if you get 30 mins per service. Easy peasy.

QC guy was on a job with me and said if boiler has been installed within last year then gas rate and fga is satisfactory

Sounds more like a BG safety check job than a full service your company is expecting.
They been getting away with it for years so more companies are jumping on band wagon.
Quantity over quality!

Was supposed to go on the logic course but something came up. Fitted loads and loads of logics over the last year so should start getting some service phone calls soon and could do with seeing how it's done

I bet the book goes arse about face. Nowt better than someone just saying 1,2,3. Ect.

Ok.

Power off
Undo 15mm nut on fan
Pull leads off fan
Undo securing stud on fan
Lift fan out.

Undo two ph2 screws on flap on silencer, lift silencer up and then out at bottom. It's a tight fit. Put two screws and flap back on TIGHT!

Undo two front and two rear 8mm nuts. Lift hex lid on to side, slide out lhs of boiler.

Rinse 3 pints of water through hex

Clean sump.

Check electrodes and burner head and gasket.

Re assemble

Gas rate and inlet.

I'm going to start doing this. Cheers for the info

I use a shower hose connected to the filling loop to flush the hex out on my installs, but there's not always an external loop available

surely ordering a gasket set in advance would be wise do you have a part number you can add so the guys reading this go armed with one

I have gaskets under seat in van. Will try and remember tomorrow. Bet thing to do tho is call ideal, tell them you have just serviced a logic which is zxxxx and only one year old. U used a filling loop and a gasket and the drop down door magnets came off so u replaced them.... They will send you replacements in post free.

The washing of hex requires an old copper bridge from older ideal logic filling loops, cut off one end and attach a manomiter tube to it.... Instant hex jet wash. Also the bomb for draining boiler down. Sure it's same size as duo rec one. But amits a pain to strip so I always use white nob behind pump to drain.

Cheers for all the tips. This site has proved invaluable to me and that's only been 2 months out on my own 🙂
