I've never come across a burner gasket that's needed replacing, and neither has my mate who's a service engineer for ideal

No question is silly, better to ask, feel stupid and be safe or save yourself heart ache!
Certainly scary just how much I still don't know, just goes to show on site experience and hearing from others is the biggest learning tool! Can read every manual and book under the sun but although helpful hearing first hand from experienced engineers is a lot better IMO

well then heres mine, get a big tub of silicone grease and another of molycote grease!

Customers don't understand everything you do but what they do understand is the sound of a vac and the smell of wd40

every service I do once the case is on I spray it with wd40 and wipe down just to leave the smell in the air

Good tip haha

Ok.

Power off
Undo 15mm nut on fan
Pull leads off fan
Undo securing stud on fan
Lift fan out.

Undo two ph2 screws on flap on silencer, lift silencer up and then out at bottom. It's a tight fit. Put two screws and flap back on TIGHT!

Undo two front and two rear 8mm nuts. Lift hex lid on to side, slide out lhs of boiler.

Rinse 3 pints of water through hex

Clean sump.

Check electrodes and burner head and gasket.

Re assemble

Gas rate and inlet.

Thanks, if I'd have read that in the book it would have been dragged over about 10 pages ha

decent o-ring and washer packs will save your bacon.
to be honest its often good to get a large case and make yourself up a pack.
washers and o rings cost pennies so it doesn't hurt to have every size and shape !

yesterday i lifted a Worcester junior 24i off the wall, no washers, just ptfe and jointing compound instead !!!

if you're installing say just Worcester, ring up and say oi, I'm missing the install pack !! (even if you're not)
so when you do drop a flue screw down the back of the unit, you have some spares !!

also be organised, saves money and time.

oh a magnetic tray for little bits or something you can pop the lid down on.
