ideal logic plus 30 was installed on the weekend, I have noticed when the central heating is on the pressure gauge does not remain stable and fluctuates I have also noticed a noise which seems to be coming from the pressure gauge/CH flow pipe, difficult to describe but its like an electrical screeching/squeaking noise

when the hot water is running with or without the CH on the above does not occur

I have questioned my plumber on this who said on the ideals/baxis he has installed in the past it is normal for the pressure gauge to fluctuate and the noise could be solder floating around in the CH flow pipe

what are your views on this?

cheers

I had this problem. If you call Ideal, they will send an engineer. The guy that came to me said that they had a bad batch and that Ideal were considering moving the gauge on future boilers. Other than that, I have not had a problem with these, and ive fitted a fair few.

To be honest Bod, that is exactly what it sounds like. I even stripped my pump before calling Ideal. but infact it is the needle bouncing.

so is the noise from the pressure gauge? do you know what causes the noise? and for the gauge to fluctuate?

Ash, the Ideal engineer will fit free of charge. He showed me a letter saying that a batch were faulty.
As for the noise, it sounds like solder in the pump/boiler. Then the noise would travel through the house making me think I had a blockage under the floor after flushing system prior to fitting the new Ideal. Done my head in. Then when he replaced presure gauge, no more noise or rattle. Hope this helps.

The gauge will fluctuate a bit on the logic as it is fitted right after the pump, every one I have fitted does this!

That is exactly what my plumber said, although I have never experienced this on the previous Isar boiler we had, how about the noise?

called ideal who advised they changed supplier and are aware of noisy gauges this is due to the size of the orifice as it is smaller, part no remains they have increased the size of the orifice, modification of the part took place in oct 2011

Not having much luck with this are you, strange your GSR is not speaking to Ideal, I know I take every opportunity to speak with Reps, always a little bonus in it for me somewhere down the line.

didnt wish to pester the installer too much, as it is something minor which prompted me to query it on the forum and call ideal myself, great boiler though!

A big difference between pestering and doing his job for him, looked at your other posts they all suggest DIY to me or a GSR who should not be on the list.

he definitely is gsr im not fussed in assisting as its an opportunity for me to learn as well
