Could I get abit of help off of you kind people reguarding an ideal mini. Went to a boiler with a descent leak out of the diverter valve section, so much I could see the water bubbling out of the elec connections on the actuator. Replaced the whole flow section and actuator and after refilling the boiler worked fine in ch mode but would now engage the pump flow switch in hw mode. After a bit of running and clearing of air the hw worked ok now after the weekend have had a call to say no hw without heating on so I am guessing the same fault. The main hex is well on the way to being blocked so guessing the same with the plate, could both the hexs being blocked restrict the flow enough to stop the pump flow switch fully coming out? On a side note the pump seems strong and it is the only thing on the boiler that seems to work well, did suggest to the cust that a new boiler would be the way since the diverter plus act was nearly £300 and the rest of it was knacked. Any help would be great.

they wont be happy to have spent £300 and now have to repair or replace at more cost, best advice, cost out repair and replacement, give them a discount on replacement of £300 somehow and go for new in this case if its as knackered as you say. You issue is having to be firm enough with you reccommendation to replace as repairing in this situ will be ongoing and youll just end up stressed out. re pump. they can seem ok but be failing badly, only one way to find out, but you also have the issue of scaled up hex so its not worth the hassle imho, see what the others say.

I agree with Lame, I work for insurance companies who will just try to repair a boiler that should be replaced.
The last ideal boilers that imo were any good were the Mexico range. Probably before your time 🙂

It has had it, but the irritating thing is the the flow switch was working fine on the old manifold

Had a lot of bother with the phex stopping the switch making! I've mentioned on a previous thread but anyways I ended up changing a mini once thinking it was scaled up all over the place. It had cost me a phex and time replacing cos that didn't fix the problem. It turned out that the return manifold had a 'groath' restricting the flow... Nothing to do with the phex!!! They have a very poorly manufactured lump of brass on the right that, with the minimal restriction, compromises the circulation!!! That's what I found on the boiler in question anyways 🙂

You could consider replacing the boiler and bury your costs in the replacement.... I think I just broke even or made a lot less than usual but it kept a customer happy end of the day... 🙂
