Is there any reason other than poor element. Why an immersion heater would fail 4 months after fitting on an unvented cylinder? Apparently it has power too it etc. Thanks. It isn't the original one either.

Could be various reasons but a tripping immersion needs addressing, is it timed to use economy 7 ? Is there 2 immersion heaters fitted could they both be on ? , Temperature setting to high ? , As you said a wiring issue ? . Kop

If it’s the bottom element on an economy 7 cylinder it could be sitting in scale- heat can’t dissipate so it trips.
However if it’s only four months old this in unlikely, unless the scale wasn’t removed when the immersion was fitted.

Ensure power switched out, remove immersion cover and check resistance across element, if unsure, post a photo with cover removed.

Any chance it could be a cylinder stat. Problem. Is a direct cylinder so not should if just works on the immersion stat. As the immersion usually a standard size? I have my unvented etc but have manily just installed new.

I am unclear whether you are saying it has overheated and tripped the HLS (High Limit Stat), or whether it stopped working and you are trying to find the reason?

Is this for you or a customer?

The element with live and neutral disconnected should read around 19 Ohms or there and there about.

There should be live to it and neutral from it.

There should be continuity through the HLS and the control/temperature stat should open and close dependent on temperature.
