Do they actually work?

For the price and ease of installation it seems like a no brainer, any other recommendations?

there is some debate over how effective they are. If the water ppm is over 200 you really need to fit one if your installing say a combi boiler to avoid loss of warantee if nothing more. Ive fitted hundreds of them on jobs in the last 5 to 10 years but ive never been back to notice if they worked or not.
