Whats the easiest way of telling if a system has had inhibitor put in. Would it just be checking the colour of water. i ask coz a good few years ago before i started learning about plumbing a guy charged 30 quid to fit a new pump. he drained down but i never even saw any inhibitor upon refilling. so just wondered if there was a quick check that could be done.

If it was an open vented system it only takes 10 seconds to top up with inhibitor (just a litre bottle poured into the F&E cistern).

If fitting a new pump, to drain down either and if not drained down then no need to top up with inhibitor.

Easiest way I find to know if inhibitor is in the system is to smell. If in doubt, top up - it won't harm.

To be fair, if someone switched a pump on my system for 30 sheets I'd snap their hand off and put inhibitor in myself.
Actually, if he's supplying and fitting pumps for that amount, have you still got his number cause he can contract to me.

my issue isnt whether he put any in or not i just didnt know if there was a way of checking for it.

You dont need any test kits or fancy indicator paper - draw of a small amount of cen heating water into a glass jar
drop a bright steel nail in and if it goes rusty not enough or no inhibitor - simplse !
