Just read a thread about insurance, so I was wondering about claims people may have had not necesarily work related.

I was in South Africa and a couple we were traveling with stayed on for another week. They were due to fly back to the UK but the airline was grounded for safety reasons. (a wing fell off of a plane, they (the airline not my friends) were given 3 weeks to check all the aircraft and failed to do so).

There were no flights from this airline at all and the desk was just closed, no information. My friends called there insurance company and said HELP! and were told they were not covered.

They had to pay £3.5k to get back to the UK and only got £800 back off of the failed airline.

They would have been covered up to £500 by the insurance company in the uk if they were delayed.

I couldn't believe what had happened so contacted my own ins company and I wouldn't have been covered either.....I've now changed companies, still not covered for that but now pay £80 for 2 adults for a years cover as opposed to £130

Anyone else have probs with there insurance?
