Hi,

I had a new kitchen installed and I have noticed since that there is a sewage smell that is very noticeable first in the morning.
I m thinking it’s the trap seal, looking like it’s an S trap rather than a P trap that could be causing the water level to drop overnight.

Any advice please ?

Hi,
The S trap might lose its water plug. It can happen a couple of different ways.
Because it's new it's probably not hair sucking the water out through capillary action. It might be a hairline crack or self syphonage or induced syphonage.
I'd keep an eye on the water level in the tap then if it's losing its seal than go from there. Look for water escaping from the tap underneath. Alternatively, check if the seal remains normal when using other appliances connected to the same waste pipe. Maybe you need extra ventilation if other appliances causing to lose the water trap.
(I'm not a plumber) 🪠 🙂
