Took my scrap along with an unvented cylinder to the scrappies .......nice weigh in but only £15 for the cylinder....won't bother again or with rads...

You will get at least 15 for the heat exchanger itself Kev. Ferrolis are about the best to weigh in. At least they are good for something.

Cheers tam.
Our local merchant lets the lads dump boilers outside and arrangez for a pikey to collect. There is always a half dozen or so outside. They dont care who takes them. Might load up when im quiet....

I was in plumbase the other day and someone had dropped an old vokera at the door.
I whipped the heat exchanger out while they were getting my order lol

My scrappy throws plate heat exchangers in with the mixed braziery. Says it's too costly to separate the copper from the stainless so they're worthless.

Which heat exchangers are you talking about Tamz?

Main heat exchangers Mas. We used to get away with throwing the plates in with the copper but they got wise to it too. I don't bother with them anymore.

Most have stainless baffles in the middle and steel plates on the ends but i cut the ends off with the chop saw (shave would be a better word) and pull the baffles out then in with the clean copper they go
