if you were in the Army/RN you just tick a box and it all goes away 🙂

dress up in nazi uniform, they will drop you 😉

why dont the tax man reimburse for loss of income!!
and all those on the dole with nothing better to do!
Thing is mate, I have no objection to doing it at all. I just feel that if we're carrying out a service then we shouldn't be stressing about our earnings or whether our business will survive. I know I'm obviously not the first person to be summonsed but it does worry me

Its still the same thing Martin. Where does the taxman get his money from? In the long run, from us. And where do you draw the line? If Bill Gates was a UK citizen, should he be able to claim a zillion dollars a day?

just bring it up with the judge and ask to be paid the same as he is plus similar expenses 🙂

some may need every penny of earning to survive.
2 weeks on lower income can jeopridse ones welfare and financial burden!

Think it needs to be a bit more realistic though Ray. Unless I've read the expenses bit wrong it's £32.47 for up to 4 hrs a day or £64.95 for over 4 hrs a day

Agreed. Probably set back when that was a reasonable amount of money, and not raised for decades.

Just as an idea, perhaps it should be set as a proportion of the tax you have pay in the next year. Sort of paying society in kind, rather than in cash.

Totally mate.

It's not even like I could book stuff in on the off chance that I'd be done early.

Hmmmm thinking an attempted deferment is in order

Rock up day one, they'll introduce the defendant as xy and at that point you need to pipe up oh my word its you, you little rat b---tard. I knew it I told you the universe would prevail and place your life in my hands... You'll regret the day you ever kicked up my geraniums!!! Oh yes your life is over I'll end you your going down I'll make sure of it you swine!! Guilty he's guilty I tell you all case dismissed life in prison your honour that's what he deserves..

I reckon you'll be done by 12 and able to take on a couple of breakdowns on the way home

Problem is. Knowing my luck I'll get done for contempt

I remember guys getting sent off for it! As long as your not on tour!

depends how the service concerned values your role 🙂 I spose if your a target, you can be spared for jury service, nick folk off ships and they dont tend to be able to work as well without the engineers, drivers and sailors etc

Apparently you won't get on if you turn up under the influence :17:

I actually really enjoyed jury service, yes it was an inconvenience and I could have done without losing the money. At the end of the day, its just a bit of giving back to the country. It was a worthwhile experience as seeing how the idiots on the jury made their minds up on the cases has made me 10 times less likely of committing a crime haha.

I do know someone who got out of it by writing in saying he is racist and homophobic.
