I wonder if my Landrover is better then the one in North Devon !!

Probably though my 04 plated discovery sailed though its mot apart fm a broken wing mirror I hadnt taped up enough, never normally replace them as a hedge removes them a week later 🙂, so next year will be a long red list of fails, but what sorted it this year was a day or so on the ramp cleaning and covering the chassis in black waxoil. Looked a treat on completion

But as I've said in other posts Diploma isn't worth anything in the job world nobody will touch you, you need to have the NVQ to be even considered

As for the lvl 3 you need to be employed and have ccompleted the Lvl 2 NVQ to be even considered

Hey all, this is my first post here.

I have recently achieved my City & Guilds level 2 diploma with distinctions across the board but now I'm in a dilemma on how to proceed from here.

I could apply to my local college and start working towards the level 3 diploma but I don't feel comfortable paying the £1,937 my college are asking for considering myself and many others barely scraped through this year because of poor teaching standards.

Part of me wants to just get out there and start making a living so I can lift the financial burden on my family but I know nobody in the trade which makes things considerably harder for me. I have been looking online and there are jobs out there but many of them require years of experience.

I have noticed a lot of vacancies are also asking for an NVQ. Would I be able to work towards my level 2 and 3 NVQ if I used my level 2 diploma as a stepping stone to finding work?

I'm in the same boat mate. I just passed my 6035 Level 2 C&G Plumbing and Logic Water Regs and Unvented. I did a few installs at the Academy but it's not quite "real world" scenarios. I'm eager to get out there but really feel like I need to get into an apprenticeship to gain some experience.

I'm doing as many free jobs for mates as I can - starting off with easy jobs - just to get used to going in peoples houses and doing jobs, even if they are just fixing some taps or changing a trap or whatever.

If I find an apprenticeship route, I'll be sure to let you know! Maybe you could do the same for me?

You should google "JTL skilling up scheme" thats what i done. I done the 6129 tech cert 2011 and in 2013 i was lucky enought to land a job after god knows how many letters to companys. Now i have my level 2 NVQ and have a good job working for a company plus im stacked out with private work. It is not easy! But if you want something bad enought work hard and it will happen mate! Where bouts in the uk you from anyway?
