ok some advice needed - just returned from a 6 day holiday and the house was toasty and warm but the bath we ran for the baby cold. The boiler is a Bosch greenstar 30si installed in january 2007.

On further investigation when i run the hot water tap the boiler fires up (water runs cool from tap) but does run hot through the central heating flow pipe ( pipe on far left of boiler - which according to manual is the flow)

My presumption is that it is the diverter valve but i am more than confused as to why the heat makes its way into the central heating.

My questions are could it be the diverter valve with these symptoms, if so is there anything that i could do to loosen it up? boiler on/off or something similar. Presuming that there is nothing that i could do, what do you think the reasonable cost of a gas safe plumber carrying out the work when locally i believe the rate is around £60 per hour.

Thanks in advance
paul

If you want to keep the baby leave the boiler alone andcall in an independant gas safe engineer who would cost around £35 -45 per round here at most. forget yellow pages and the large ads, they have to pay for those and it costs you in the long run.

The valve may just be sticking and "might" free itself.

A replacement valve (full thing) costs around £60 or around £35 for the motor. Fitting in under a hour.
Look for a small independent preferably on recommendation from a friend or neighbour and do steer clear of the big ads.
