Hi, Hoping someone can help me with this. I'm a complete novice but would rather try to fix this problem than call a pro as I've located the source and it seems straightforward in principle!

This morning I found a leak beneath the bath. I've traced it to the base of the overflow pipe close to where it joins the drainage pipe. It is a plastic ribbed pipe (18mm diameter) with a fair build of limescale. I guess it's a straightforward part to replace but how do I remove it? There is a roughly 3 inch plastic hexagonal locknut - not sure if this needs to be undone with some kind of pipe wrench or do I need to take the drain cover itself out with pliers? Is this a simple job? Photo attached.

Thanks in advance

It looks like a banjo waste, notorious for leaks. You need to remove it from the bath completely, clean it up and replace using plenty of silicon between all joints. It shouldn't take long.
