Leaking by-pass valve!

Hi have a Worcester 240 combi which has got a pretty bad leak from the by-pass valve which I believe may also be causing the system to not maintain pressure?

I have attempted to adjust the valve by screwing it in and out but it still leaks! What is the cause of these valves to fail and does it mean it will have to be replaced to rectify the problem?

certainly sounds like replacement is more than nesercary

did you have a build up and increase in pressure befour the leak started once they start to open they con be stubborn to close again fully because dirt or crud can get inbetween the parts that make it wartertight so swapping the part might only be part of the soultion if the expansion vessel has failed or just lost pressure
