Leaking cold water outlet connection help please

Hi any advice very much appreciated...
live in a Victorian terrace no idea how old pipe work is. My washing machine and dishwasher are connected to cold water outlet via a y piece that was there when we moved in. This started leaking some months ago so replaced with a crappy homebase one this till leaked! So used new washers on old y piece this seemed to do trick. Problem is it started leaking again and as a stop gap I disconnected the y piece and screwed just the washing machine hose straight into pipe - it still leaks. This is a new washing machine so don't think it is the cold water piping from the machine, to check this I tried screwing in just the dishwasher - still leaking. So am thinking it must be the cold water outlet. Is there anything I can do to clean up this connection and stop it from leaking? Or do I need to go down route of replacing, probably beyond my capabilities!!

Hi gem b. Dont have much time for that plastic y pieces youd defonatly be better off once and for all taking it out and putting in a normal washing machine valve and a washing machine valve tee just before it . This will give you two washing machine connections.

Materials needed. 1 x 15mm washing machine tee
1 x 15 mm washing machine valve.
if this is too much call your local plumber or put a post on here looking for a plumber.

Or ment to say if thats no good simply use a bit of thread tape and new washers in the old bit.

Hiya - gem b as kris says below gnomebase stuff is usually rubbish

so for what should be a normal diy project you need to take a piccy
post on here and we will all have a look and give you the correct advice

It will be worth it as we cost quite alot to call out and this sounds
like a job you can complete yourself with the right gear and guidance
