6 year old Vaillant ecotec pro with vertical flue in a close to inaccessible loft space, full length of flue is about 2.5m with one Of The fittings inside the inaccessible loft space, perfectly viewable from an access hatch. The flue has all of the screws in where it is supposed to, nicely patched in at the ceiling below, good lead slate above but there is no support bracket in the loft space where there should be, however the flue is not loose.

Checked the flue integrity which was perfect so I deemed this not an AR situation.

What would you have done?

Common sense says ncs, but the rules probably say ar.

AR it is then, Vaillant stipulate clips on every flue section. To hell with common sense.

I rang gas safe to get their opinion on it and the answer definitely sent mixed messages. The guy said I have to do a risk assessment of the situation and things like "you know what the answer is" but in his opinion if he was met with this situation he would not be shutting the boiler off.

MINDFIELD!

If it was rigid enough, sound and no sign of at having moved over the past 6 years, I would have probably given a warning advise notice !
I definitely would not turn it off.
