I have run a ferroli optima 701 combi boiler in my home for the last 14 years and believe it or not it has given very little trouble 😀 (must be a miracle I hear you say).
I,m not really keen on replacing a reliable boiler considering all the woeful reliability stories I've heard regarding the current range of boilers.
I realize it's very inefficient by todays standards (70% efficiency I believe) but my main concern is that due to its age the copper heat exchanger could start leaking, most likely when I'm away for a few days therefore creating a flood in my home. 🙁
I should point out that I've replaced the inhibitor is the system every year.

Apart from advising me to replace the bl**dy thing you skinflint can anyone tell me if they have had to replace the copper heat exchanger on this model and/or what life can a copper heat exchanger be expected to give.

there is no reason it should decide to leak, but be aware if the house freezes you will have preoblems,if it did need replacing the repair would be uneconomical

Thanks, Good advice,
I normally leave the heating running timed, thermostat at about 15C if away in freezing weather and I realize it would cost hundreds of pounds to replace the heat exchanger.
