I have a problem with a loose basin mixer tap. It's a single screw fixing and, unfortunately, the metal horseshoe washer has become bent.
1) Is it possible to get a replacement horseshoe washer? I've tried a couple of local plumber's merchants who don't have any spares.
2) Is there anything available that will centrally locate the tap prior to tightening to prevent movement?
3) I've been told that, as a last resort, it would be possible to use a high-quality sealant to bed down and fix the tap in position prior to tightening. If this is correct, does anybody have any suggestions as to what kind of sealant I need?

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Can't you take the horseshoe off and give it a seeing to with a hammer or a couple of pairs of pliers?

Sealant is not the same as glue as it's flexible. If above doesn't work, can you wedge some cardboard into the gap around the horseshoe?

Another possibility is to look for people who are having their kitchen replaced then ask them if you can nick the tap from the skip. Alternatively, ask one or two manufacturers.

If you don't get any joy straightening it Ive probably got one or two spare horseshoe washers here somewhere (I'm a bit of a hoarder).

This is what you are refering to in your point number 2)

Sorry about the delay in replying. Thanks for all the advice. I managed to fix it by making my own replacement washer from some thicker plate as well as new (and better) rubber washers using some old inner tube. It's now better fixed than it was when originally installed by the builders. Thanks again.
