Hi, I hope it's ok to post this question on here as it might be considered and electrical problem on a dishwasher and nothing to do with the plumbing side.

It's an old integrated dishwasher with limited program control. I wanted to power save and put this dishwasher on at night to save energy. However the on / off button is an electrical push switch that doesn't remain down when pushed on or off.
When I attach the plug from the dishwasher to the timer socket providing power to the dishwasher there doesn't appear any way of starting the machine without physically pushing the on / off button on the dishwasher.

Anyone know of a workaround which of course I accept isn't just a problem of this dishwasher, but any that don't have built in timers or delays?

Thank you
Lee

The manual for your dishwasher has a clause about "Accidental Interruptions" which, if true for your particular version, might be a way (see attached below).
If you set the dishwasher going, then turns the mains off, connect the timer, and when the timer switches on, the dishwasher should start going a short while after. At least that's what the words suggest.
You may be able to perform the above on/off/timer routine by using the timer controls without actually unplugging the dishwasher, if you see what I mean!

Might be worth a try 🤔

Hi Basher,
It was worth having a go and thank you for your input.
Unfortunately when the power goes off, it remains off and doesn't start again until you push the on/off button.
😒

Oh bother!
Looks like there's no easy way to achive your aim, other than staying up until midnight to turn the dishwasher on 🤪.
Sorry!
