Marflow Shower PL8

Hi newbie would appreciate advice. I am fitting a Triton shower in a quadrant cubicle and it will be fitted against a stud wall.The stud wall panels are aquapanels from Knauf On the instructions for the plate it shows the plate fitted over the boards but when you watch the video it shows the plate fitted in a cut out. My two fears are water ingress if I cut out and not being able to cover the connectors with the cover plates suplied with the valveif I dont. Any advice welcomed.
